چکیده
Abstract Background Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) is a common respiratory disorder characterized by airflow limitation, persistent symptoms and chronic lung inflammation. Previous studies reported robust relationship between COPD coronary artery (CAD). Local systemic inflammation, known to play role in atherosclerosis development, has been patients with COPD, proposed as one of the possible pathogenetic factors linking CAD. However, data on atherosclerotic pattern inflammation are lacking. Purpose To study characteristics plaques local using optical coherence tomography (OCT) presenting acute syndromes (ACS). Methods ACS undergoing intracoronary OCT imaging culprit vessel were retrospectively identified. Coronary plaque OCT-defined macrophage infiltration (MØI) assessed OCT. divided into 2 groups according presence or absence an established diagnosis features MØI both at site along compared two groups. Results Among 146 (mean age, 66,1±12,7 years, 109 males), 47 (32,2%) had COPD. Patients older, more frequently therapy angiotensin receptor blocker, lower hemoglobin, total cholesterol triglycerides levels, higher serum creatinine levels. The prevalence different mechanisms similar noCOPD (plaque rupture: 57,4% vs. 45,4%, erosion: 23,4% 32,3%, calcified plaque: 19,1% 22,2%, respectively, overall p=0,381). analysis microstructures showed that significantly (78,7% 54,4%, p=0,005), thin cap fibroatheroma (TCFA) (48,9% p=0,001), spotty calcium (68,1% 26,3%, p<0,001) calcifications (83,0% 66,7%, p=0,040) than patients. In multivariate logistic regression performed adjust for clinical features, was independently associated (OR: 4,726, CI: 1,599; 13,971, p=0,005) 2,193, 1,110; 4,332, p=0,024). Similarly, TCFA 5,737, 1,877; 17,540, p=0,002) 2,796, 1,408; 5,553, p=0,003). Conclusions vessel, independent predictor vulnerability vessel. Our results may suggest inflammatory milieu might enhance promoting CAD development vulnerability. Funding Acknowledgement Type funding sources: None.

Aspergillus colonization in patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease
Background and Purpose: Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) has been recognized as a risk factor for invasive aspergillosis. Airway colonization by Aspergillus species is a common feature of chronic pulmonary diseases. Nowadays, the incidence of COPD has increased in critically ill patients. The aim of the present study was to isolate and identify Aspergillus colonies in the respirator...

Objective(s): Cardiovascular disease is a leading cause of morbimortality with over half cardiovascular events occurring in the asymptomatic population by traditional risk stratification. This preliminary study aimed to evaluate systemic plaque vulnerability in patients with prior Coronary Artery Disease (CAD) with a single Whole Body [FDG] PET-CT scan in terms of plaq...

Introduction: Sulfur mustard (SM), a toxic alkylating gas, can cause serious long-term pulmonary complications such as chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). Metabolic syndrome (MetS) is one of the important comorbidities of COPD. This study was designed to evaluate the frequency of metabolic syndrome in Iranian chemical warfare patients (CWPs) with COPD. Materials and Methods: Thirty ...

Background: Cardiovascular diseases are global problems. They are causes of death in about 43% of people worldwide and may become the most widespread reason of death by 2020. The prognosis is directly dependent to immediate diagnosis and on time treatment. Introduction of new biochemical markers as the early diagnosis of complications after coronary revascularization is very important in this p...
